Global Virtual Teams - The
Power
of 4
What is it
about
Today more and more
project teams are comprised of people from different backgrounds and
cultures with different working styles and preferences. They
are increasingly organized as virtual (or geographically dispersed)
teams. Their main means of communication is electronic;
they may never meet each other face to face. These teams are
expected to be highly effective and produce outstanding results
under the ever increasing pressures of time, workload and limited
resources. Theoretically diverse teams have a better chance of
creating unique solutions and out-performing homogenous teams.
But in real life a lot gets in the way. Differences need to be
actively managed in order for a team to achieve high performance. If
these are ignored or badly managed, a team will under-perform.
Training global virtual teams helps to raise awareness of barriers
to effective teamwork and to build trusting relationships that are
the glue of highly performing
teams.
Contents We investigate the key challenges and consequences of
working in a global environment. Our “Power of 4” Model
highlights the critical performance zones for operating effectively
as a global virtual team: • Skills and
Structure • Climate and
Culture • Communication • Process and
Purpose.
Using a Virtual Team profiling
tool, we identify your team’s primary challenges and focus
areas. We analyze challenges and identify actions to improve
individual and team
performance.
